Looks like the Mormon missionaries of Broadway's new hit musical The Book of Mormon will set up shop in London, according to The London Times. The Tony-nominated musical is eyeing a West End run in 2012, according to the paper. No dates, casting or venue have been announced at this time.
The Book of Mormon follows two mismatched missionaries who are sent to Uganda to spread word of their religion. However, upon arrival the duo learns their training hardly prepared them for the unsettling realities of African life.
Featuring a score and book by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone alongside Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon opened on Broadway on March 24, 2011 and quickly became a sold-out hit. The musical, which is co-directed by Parker and Casey Nicholaw, recently nabbed 14 Tony nominations.
